Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle with Us
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Trowbridge, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary based on vehicle type, with potential additional fees for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Please provide current identification, proof of residence, valid payment details, and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made through our website, by phone, or directly at our Trowbridge location. A booking deposit may be required to confirm your rental. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally collected at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, securely processed through trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a comprehensive inspection is required. It is essential to report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it must be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and applicable charges will be applied. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if not met. Late returns may incur additional charges, so please contact us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every car rental. For full coverage details and excess amounts, please refer to the Rental Agreement. You have the option to purchase additional insurance to limit your financial liability. Review these options carefully, as you will be liable for damages or losses up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment terms depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Uses
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful purpose is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous activities is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Additionally, operating the vehicle outside its intended use, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or traveling beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Trowbridge will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
